What to expect for attendees at the World Economic Forum

davos The Swiss army has been deployed in Davos for days. 5000 soldiers secure the luxury ski resort, where the World Economic Forum (WEF) will meet from Monday. 52 heads of state and government are expected, 56 finance ministers, 45 foreign ministers and more than 1,500 top managers from 700 companies.

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the meeting will take place again in January. And just in time, after unusually warm weeks, winter in the Alps is playing along again.

The elite from business and politics meet in a difficult time. The war in Ukraine is being waged with undiminished severity, and the global ramifications are manifold. WEF founder Klaus Schwab speaks of an “unprecedented situation in which we are dealing with several crises at the same time”. And the crises would also reinforce each other, “resulting in an extremely volatile and uncertain future.”
