Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, New York, Brussels Max Viessmann sells the core business of the family company founded in 1917 by his great-grandfather Johann Viessmann. The US company Carrier Global takes over the Climate Solutions division accounts for 85 percent of Viessmann’s sales. The division is to be valued at around twelve billion euros, the Americans said.

According to the information, 80 percent should be paid in cash, 20 percent in shares. Together, the joint company with 45,000 employees will have a turnover of 17 billion US dollars, Viessmann announced on Wednesday night.

With the unusually large and far-reaching deal for a German medium-sized company, the Florida-based US group, which generates the majority of its sales in the heat pump and air conditioning business, wants to strengthen its position in the competition – especially with Asian competitors.

Economics Minister Robert Habeck has already announced that he intends to examine the sale.
