Many sustainable funds also contain companies that are not so sustainable.

Dusseldorf, Berlin, Frankfurt They advertise investments in sustainable companies, but in many cases invest in coal, oil or the aviation industry: almost 48 percent of all funds in Europe labeled as particularly sustainable (“dark green”) also invest money in places where no ecological added value can be identified is.

This green misnomer hits a growing number of investors. After all, investments in green investments are politically desired and encouraged. According to the Federal Environment Agency, investors invested 409 billion euros in sustainable funds in 2021, and the investment volume has more than doubled since 2019. But apparently not all of these systems are as green as the providers suggest in their advertising.
