Russia is apparently looking for new suppliers of war ammunition.

Berlin Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner mercenary group, is furious. For weeks he has been complaining that the Russian Defense Ministry is not supplying its fighters with ammunition. His troops needed 10,000 tons of ammunition per month for the battle for the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, he explained in a video message. But in Moscow, his calls were ignored, he grumbled.

The relationship between Prigozhin and the Kremlin is not the best, that much is known. However, the fact that his mercenaries are not given ammunition should not be out of spite.

Like the Ukraine, Russia also consumes immense amounts of projectiles – and apparently has problems with supplies. The US think tank Jamestown Foundation notes that the shelling of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure in particular has led to an increasing shortage of artillery and MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) shells. And the capacities of the Russian defense industry may not be enough to maintain the current rate of fire.
