In defense against Russian air raids, Kiev plans to use F-16 fighter jets in the near future. US President Joe Biden only promised at the weekend that he wanted to support the training of Ukrainian pilots on precisely these machines.

At the G7 summit, he signaled his willingness to deliver US-made F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine for the first time. The project is supported by Great Britain, France, Belgium, Denmark and Portugal.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy welcomed the international fighter jet coalition via Twitter with the words: “This will significantly strengthen our army in the sky.” Kiev hopes the deployment of the F-16 “Fighting Falcons” will turn the tide in the ongoing Ukraine war. But how realistic are these expectations?

F-16 machines as a silver bullet?

Military analysts are currently warning that the F-16 is not a panacea and has vulnerabilities that Russia is well aware of and can exploit. This is according to reports from the US television channel “CNN”.
