Fatih Özer was caught by the police in Vlora, Albania.

Albanian Interior Minister Bledar Çuçi informed the Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu that the fugitive Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the fake platform sought with a red notice, was caught in Vlora, Albania, and his identity was confirmed by biometric results.

The extradition proceedings of Fatih Özer to Turkey have been initiated by the Interpol Department of the General Directorate of Security.

Ministry of Interior Releases Statement Regarding Capture of Thodex Founder

The following statement was made by the Ministry of Interior:

“The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Bledar Çuçi, informed the Minister of Internal Affairs, Süleyman Soylu, in the morning today, that the fugitive Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of Thodex, sought by Red Notice, was caught in Vlora, Albania, and his identity was confirmed by biometric results.

The Interpol Department of the General Directorate of Security has started the extradition proceedings of Fatih Özer to Turkey.”

In the investigation against Thodex, one of Turkey’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, an indictment was prepared against 21 suspects, including Faruk Fatih Özer. A prison term of up to 40,564 years was sought for fugitive Faruk Fatih Özer for 3 crimes.

More than 2,000 people who complained claimed that they had been defrauded by Thodex for over 300 million pounds.

Albania had offered a reward of 50,000 Euros for Özer’s capture.
