new York With a tailwind from company balance sheets, the US stock exchanges rose at the end of the week. The Dow Jones index of standard values was 1.8 percent higher at 30,872 points on Friday afternoon (local time) and was heading for its biggest weekly gain since the end of June. The broader S&P 500 climbed one and a half percent to 3,722 points. The Nasdaq index rose 1.3 percent to 10,753 points. The third quarter earnings season has so far been better than feared, prompting analysts to raise earnings expectations for S&P 500 companies to 3.1 percent from the previous 2.8 percent.
