Frankfurt The failure of banks in the USA and the necessary rescue of Credit Suisse have given the bosses of European banks a real fright. The operative business should have gone well for most financial institutions from January to the end of March.
“Staying course” is therefore the motto of Unicredit boss Andrea Orcel, as he recently emphasized at a financial conference. The recent problems in the banking sector were isolated cases. You shouldn’t let yourself be too distracted by them.
The coming days will probably show how robust the big European banks really are. Then, after the US banks, the largest European financial institutions will also present their figures for the first quarter.
