Washington The United States is stepping up crackdown on firms from China, Japan, Pakistan and Singapore with alleged links to the military. A total of 27 new companies have been blacklisted for trade for national security and foreign policy reasons, the US Department of Commerce said on Wednesday. Several companies and individuals from China and Pakistan have been included for contributing to Pakistan’s nuclear program.

The move will ensure that US technology is not responsible for driving the development of Chinese and Russian “military advances and activities,” said Minister of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

The Chinese embassy in Washington accused the United States of using the concept of national security as a hook and abusing state power to restrict Chinese companies by all means.
