Unskippable Instagram ads may cause user loss

Meta reportedly wants to generate more revenue from social media platforms. Accordingly, unskippable ads will be shown in Instagram’s interface. However, a new study revealed that users will delete the application due to unskippable ads.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, has always survived by relying on advertising. Now, Instagram interrupts your browsing pleasure with its new feature, Ad Break, and exposes you to mandatory advertisements.

Instagram may face a huge loss of users if unskippable ad tests become permanent. A new survey by PR Week found that the controversial feature would do more harm than good.

Instagram has started testing its annoying new Ad Break feature. Now, while you are enjoying Instagram, there will be ads that will not be skipped.

More than half of users surveyed said they would delete Instagram if they saw unskippable ads while watching Reels. Accordingly, the new ad break format tested by the company disrupts the scrolling experience of users.

Nowadays, standard Instagram ads appear between posts. However, these ads can be skipped while scrolling. However, survey results revealed that unskippable ads can cause major problems.

For Instagram and parent company Meta, new formats like non-skippable ads could help boost ad revenue. However, the survey found that more than 50 percent of users may abandon the platform.

Meta CFO Susan Li also stated that Instagram is researching new advertising technologies. However, users dissatisfied with non-skippable formats leaving the platform may undermine these revenue targets.
