Union, Greens set themselves apart from the SPD in election polls

Annalena Baerbock (Greens), Fredrich Merz (CDU)

Berlin Union and Greens leave the SPD far behind in terms of voter favor. In the Sunday trend, which the opinion research institute Insa for “Bild am Sonntag” collects, the CDU and CSU come to 27 percent – that’s one percentage point more than in the previous week.

The situation is very different for the parties in the traffic light coalition: The Greens can also increase their value by one point, reaching 23 percent. The FDP remains unchanged at eight percent. The chancellor party SPD, on the other hand, loses a point and only gets 18 percent.

The comrades performed weaker in an Insa survey before the most recent federal elections: On August 9, 2021, the party recorded approval of 17.5 percent. After that, things went up steeply: on election Sunday on September 26, 2021, the party achieved 25.7 percent, and then the value even climbed to 28.5 percent (October 11). Since June 20, 2022, the party has again been stable below 20 percent.

According to the Insa survey, five percent of German citizens would still vote if the federal elections were held today. The AfD (twelve percent) can gain a point. The other parties would get seven percent (minus two percentage points) of the votes.
