In a note prepared by Barclays for investors, it was claimed that Apple may reduce production of the iPhone 16 series this year by three million units. It is stated that Barclays analysts obtained this information by examining Apple’s supply chain. Apple’s decision to cut orders with an important semiconductor partner in the December quarter is cited as the basis for this forecast.
Apple iPhone 16 production is shaky!
Barclays expects 51 million iPhone 16 series units to be shipped by the end of the year. However, analysts stated that sales of the iPhone 16 series decreased by 15 percent compared to iPhone 15 sales in the same period last year. This decline may negatively impact shipment figures for the September quarter.
It was revealed that Apple set a shipment target of 51 million units in the third calendar quarter, covering July, August and September.
According to Barclays analysts, shipments of the iPhone 16 series may be at risk in the last quarter of 2024. The reasons for this include the limited adoption of Apple’s artificial intelligence technology on a global scale and the lack of hardware differentiation in new devices. Analysts emphasized that it may be difficult for Apple to achieve its targets in the last quarter of the year.
On the other hand, it is reported that Apple is preparing to launch a new iPhone SE 4 model in 2024. This new model will be equipped with a 6.1 inch OLED screen, Face ID and A18 processor. It is predicted that Apple can gain significant momentum in markets such as China and India with this model in the low price segment.
Additionally, new iPad Air models are expected to be introduced in 2024. According to Gurman, these models will have 11-inch and 13-inch options and will be supported by a new Magic Keyboard.
