Apparently, a breakthrough is getting closer: Ukraine and Russia want to meet again this week to reach a final agreement on the transport of Ukrainian grain to the world’s oceans. The EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell was already spreading optimism on Monday morning, but he warned: “This is not a diplomatic game, tens of thousands of lives depend on this agreement.”
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said last week after talks in Istanbul that “a decisive step had been taken.” There, Russian and Ukrainian military sat at the negotiating table together with mediators from Turkey and the UN.
