Elon Musk said in a previous post that his first priority after the Twitter purchase was to delete spam bots. Even before the related acquisition was not completed, he had a great fight with the company’s board of directors on this issue.
In particular, he requested that the actual number be shared, citing that the number of these bot accounts is less than 5 percent, but that according to his own research, the actual number is up to 20 percent. Twitter today announced a feature for tweeting together called CoTweet. Currently, only people in the testing phase can use it.
However, in the statement made by Twitter today, it was shared that they are closing all bot accounts as of now. Of course, this doesn’t happen in a day. There’s also a great deal of work and identification and verification process behind it.
Still, it was pleasing to know that at least 1 million spam accounts are removed from the platform every day. Because they have revealed that they care about both Musk’s threat against the cancellation of the purchase and the feedback from users.
Twitter has put the feature of tweeting together in the testing phase!
Some users, who had the chance to test this feature of tweeting together, developed by Twitter, reported the situation through their social media accounts. He even tried it with his friends and shared this innovation with a tweet shared together.
The statement made by Twitter for the feature says:
- You can invite public accounts that follow you.
- If they accept, a CoTweet will be published with you both as co-authors.
- If they refuse, the CoTweet draft will be deleted.
As can be understood from the description, you will first be able to joint Tweet with someone who follows you and whose account is not private. You can do this by first creating a draft and directing it to that person. If they find the content appropriate and approve it, sharing will be done automatically on both accounts.
If the other party does not accept this sharing, there will be no undesirable situation such as publishing only from your account. In fact, Twitter says it will delete the tweet from drafts as well. Therefore, both parties have to make a joint decision.
