According to the statement made by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, 682 thousand 223 megawatts of electricity were produced across Turkey on June 16. A remarkable part of this production was solar energy with 109 thousand 501 megawatts.
This figure shows that the contribution of solar energy to daily electricity production has reached a rate of 16.05 percent. However, the real record was broken when the share of solar energy in electricity production exceeded 44 percent during the day.

In his statement on the subject, Minister Bayraktar underlined that Turkey acts with the aim of using its potential in renewable energy resources at the highest level. He also stated that they aim to commission 3,500 megawatts of solar energy every year for the next 12 years.
With the introduction of other renewable energy sources, the share of renewable sources in total electricity production reached 63 percent on June 16. The share of domestic and renewable resources exceeded 78 percent.
According to the latest data published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Turkey managed to enter the top 11 in the world in terms of renewable energy power. Türkiye, which ranks 5th in Europe, plans to accelerate its solar energy investments in the coming period.
