Having displayed a balanced performance in the first half of the year, Türk Telekom increased its consolidated revenues by 28.1% compared to the first half of 2021 and reached 20 billion 203 million TL. The number of broadband subscribers and fiber subscribers announced by the company drew particular attention.

Record revenue from Türk Telekom in the first half of the year!

Raising its EBITDA (profit before interest, depreciation and tax) to 8 billion 519 million TL in the first half of 2022, Türk Telekom’s consolidated net profit in the first half of the year was 1 billion 953 million TL. Türk Telekom made a total of 3 billion 955 million TL investments in the first six months of 2022.

Türk Telekom increased the number of fixed broadband subscribers to 14.6 million by the end of the first half, while the number of fiber subscribers reached 10.7 million in the first half of 2022. The share of fiber subscribers in Türk Telekom’s fixed broadband base increased from 58.5 percent to 73.5 percent compared to the previous year. In the first half of the year, Türk Telekom’s fiber network length reached 381 thousand km, and its fiber household coverage reached 30.8 million.

Türk Telekom and Korea Telecom have signed a cooperation for many joint studies, especially R&D studies in the field of 5G.

Turk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal, in his assessment of financial results, said: “We implemented our plans by focusing on reducing risks while achieving healthy growth on the basis of sustainability. With this approach, we also fulfill our responsibility towards all our stakeholders. We revised our investment forecast for 2022 upwards to 13 billion TL.”

Fiber growth does not slow down

Ümit Önal said that his fixed broadband subscribers reached 14.6 million as of the first half of 2022 and continued: “We have seen that the demand for high speed of both new and renewed subscribers has not deteriorated. In the second quarter of 2022, packages of 24 Mbps and above accounted for 55.4 percent of new sales.

Our fiber network length, which was 345 thousand km as of the second quarter of 2021, increased to 381 thousand km as of the first half of the year. The fiber network covers 30.8 million households in the first half of 2022, reflecting our focus on stable fiber transformation. Our total number of fiber subscribers increased by 15 points on an annual basis and by 36.4 points since the end of 2019, reaching 10.7 million, constituting 73.5 percent of our total base.

According to the European FTTH Council’s ‘European FTTH/B Market Panorama, September 2021’ report published in May 2022, Turkey ranks third in the ‘number of FTTH/B households covered’ in the EU39 comparison, and in the ‘5 fastest growing markets’ (in terms of volume and percentage) ) ranks fourth. This clearly demonstrates the company’s leadership and passion for Turkey’s fiberisation.”

Türk Telekom’s mobile subscriber portfolio reached 24.6 million with 580 thousand net additions in the first half of 2022, while the postpaid segment subscriber increase was 638 thousand in the first half of the year. The share of LTE subscribers in mobile subscriber base, which was 62 percent in the second quarter of last year, increased to 69 percent in the second quarter of this year. Türk Telekom’s total TV subscribers reached 2.9 million in the first half of 2022. Türk Telekom’s self-service online transactions application ‘Online Transactions’ was downloaded approximately 61.8 million times as of the first half of the year. The number of unique subscribers using the application reached 17.8 million.

Türk Telekom’s 5G technology initiatives bear fruit

Saying that they entered an important market with the agreement they signed with the Swedish Net Insight company on 5G synchronization solutions before, the CEO of the company, Ümit Önal, pointed out that the rapidly growing 5G synchronization market is expected to reach 1.5 billion dollars in 2027, and said:
