Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has officially confirmed its 2nm processor, dubbed N2. The process, which started with IBM’s success in producing processors with 2nm transistor range last year, continues with TSMC. The company has released a teaser revealing some key details about the issue.
TSMC’s 2nm processor will provide an increase in pure performance compared to its predecessor. This means it is much more efficient when used at the same power levels. The highly anticipated processors will be released in 2025. In 2026, it is expected that 2nm-based devices will enter.
The 2nm processor will be TSMC’s first processor to come with GAAFET (multidirectional field effect transistors). On the other hand, a 15 percent performance increase will be offered compared to 3nm processors. Additionally, TSMC will launch its first 3nm chips in the second half of this year.
