Munich It is a critical distance with tradition. Ever since Napoleon annexed large parts of Franconia to southern Bavaria more than 200 years ago, the two different regions of the Free State have shared a mixture of dislike, resentment and open teasing.
In the south, the international business metropolis Munich confidently dominates, in the north the many positive developments often only become apparent to outsiders at second glance.
Wrongly so, as Steffen Metzner, professor at the Northern Business School in Hamburg, found in a new survey. “In terms of economic dynamics, the greater Nuremberg area is well above comparable medium-sized cities in Germany.” This is backed up by a few figures.
