Berlin The concept of Industry 4.0 has been a German trademark for ten years. But now it is about to be overtaken by the Chinese. The reasons for this lie in Germany – and the responsibility lies primarily with the federal government.

“In order to stay ahead and use the potential of industrial digitization in Germany in the way that is technologically possible, the traffic light government urgently needs to remove various restrictive regulations,” demands Harald Schöning, Vice President Research at Software AG.

Schöning and Peter Liggesmeyer from the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) are spokespersons for the Industry 4.0 research advisory board. They are part of a platform from business and research that is intended to support the federal government and its ministries in strategy and promotion of networked industry.
