Berlin The leaders of the SPD, Greens and FDP discussed Wednesday evening at a coalition committee with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). According to information from the German Press Agency from party circles, there were no decisions at the meeting in the Chancellery, which ended late in the evening. The talks on current political issues were constructive, it said.

Unlike the mammoth meeting at the end of March, the traffic light coalition leaders did not want to talk about individual topics this time, but about the “general situation”. It was said beforehand that this could include housing policy and migration.

The three parties had actually agreed in their coalition agreement to meet monthly for such talks to discuss fundamental and current political issues. Recently, they had not always adhered to this schedule.

At the end of March, the traffic light leaders had negotiated for three days in a row and, after fierce struggles, agreed on a faster expansion of some motorway projects, adjustments to the climate protection law and the conversion of heating systems.
