Tony, goals, tears – Modeste: The best comeback of the season – Bundesliga

He is fully back: Anthony Modeste (33).

In the 5th game of the season he scored his fourth goal for FC. The Frenchman has reported back as a goalscorer. Without a doubt the best comeback of the season!

But also a sad one. After the opening goal in the 1-1 draw against Leipzig, Modeste cried tears of grief. “It’s dad’s birthday today,” he said after the final whistle, “I lost him three years ago.”

Father Guy, a former professional himself, died on December 17, 2018 at the age of only 64. Tony had a very close bond with him.

After death, Modeste fell into a hole. Hardly any performance, hardly any goals. The new coach Steffen Baumgart (49) was only able to get him out of the low two and a half years later.

Modeste: “We have a lion on the line!” Who always stands in front of his team and gives confidence. Modeste drives it.

With the goal against Leipzig, he finally shot himself back into the hearts of the fans. They roared loudly the old Modeste hit by singer Ikke Hüftgold (45): “Modeste, Modeste – Anthony Modeste …”

Tony makes Cologne happy!

In the stands, the proud wife Maeva cheered. Modeste calls her from the locker room before every game. Tell her that he loves her. It gives him new strength.

Against Leipzig, she wore a declaration of love on the back of her leather jacket. The letters “AMKB” and the number 27 in rainbow colors could be read there. AM stands for Anthony Modeste, K and B for the children Kihanna and Brooklyn. 27 is his number on the shirt.

Tony, goals, tears. Cologne has its dazzling star back.
