Dusseldorf The digitization of the German economy urgently requires additional staff. According to the Bitkom industry association, around 137,000 experts are missing – by no means just programmers. “Companies are looking for reinforcements to introduce new IT systems, coordinate teams and train employees,” says Katharina Pratesi, partner at Brandmonks.

Lateral entrants can take on many things. “Anyone who is thinking about a change to an IT job has the best chances of getting started,” explains Pratesi. Employers no longer only pay attention to training and experience, but also train talented people in a targeted manner, adds labor market expert Annina Hering from the Indeed job exchange: “A lot of money and time is sometimes invested in this.”
