Thodex Founder Faruk Fatih Özer is Extradited to Turkey

Founder of cryptocurrency exchange Thodex Faruk Fatih Ozer He was captured in Albania. On 17 November, the Elbasa Court of First Instance decided to extradite Özer to Turkey. The Durres Court of Appeals also approved this decision today and officially started the proceedings.

Thodex founder Faruk Fatih Öz, whose search warrant was issued with a red notice, was arrested in Albania on 30 August. The decision of the Elbasan Court of First Instance on the continuation of Özer’s detention on September 2 was appealed by Özer’s lawyers on September 14.

The Dıraç Court of Appeals approved Özer’s detention on 20 September. Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced that extradition would be initiated after the ongoing courts in Albania.

At the hearing on 17 November, the Elbasan Court of First Instance announced that the request of the Elbasan Prosecutor’s Office to allow Özer to be extradited to Turkey was accepted. Özer, on the other hand, appealed against this decision on 7 December. Hearings regarding this decision at the Dıraç Court of Appeal were held on 16 December and 20 December.

In the case that was heard on 27 December, it was decided to postpone the appeal hearing of Özer’s appeal against the decision to 30 December.

In today’s case, the decision to extradite Faruk Fatih Özer to Turkey was upheld by the Durres Court of Appeal.
