Dusseldorf There is a temporary solution to the dispute over the payment of Russian energy supplies to Europe: several large gas importers from the EU expressed confidence on Wednesday that they will be able to pay their bills to Russia at the end of the month without any problems.
The Düsseldorf-based energy group Uniper announced: “We receive the bill in euros. And we pay in euros to a Gazprombank account in accordance with the new payment mechanism.” This ensures timely performance of the contract by the company. “We are in close contact with the federal government on this approach,” explained Uniper.
According to its own statements, the energy group EnBW has also developed a sanctions-compliant procedure for paying for gas imports. “The mechanism is in place,” said EnBW boss Frank Mastiaux of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. “We did a test with a positive result.” “We’ll see” whether that will work in the long run. The Leipzig gas importer VNG also belongs to the third largest German energy group.
