It doesn’t look much better on smartphones. The battery is permanently installed, the back of the cell phone is glued, you just can’t get to it. This protects the battery from water damage, but makes it practically impossible for laypeople to change it. With Samsung cell phones, you can at least change the broken display yourself. iPhone users can currently only dream of such possibilities.

So far, private individuals have not been able to buy original spare parts, and anyone who tries to mount the display of their old iPhone on another must expect that face recognition will no longer work. It’s the software. But there is hope: Apple wants to enable at least a little self-repair this year.
