This is how the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince imagines the city of the future: The mirrored building runs through the landscape like a line.

Munich The numbers alone make you dizzy: “The Line” is supposed to stretch 170 kilometers like a gigantic ruler into the desert – starting from the planned city of Neom in the north-west of the kingdom. In the future, nine million people will live and work 200 meters wide and 500 meters high, surrounded by “untouched nature” – and a glass façade. The Line forms the heart of the metropolis Neom, which is to cover an area the size of Belgium.

“Megalomaniac”, “hot air”, “autocratic fever dream”, “prison made of glass” – these are some reactions to the designs of the futuristic megacity The Line, which the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) presented in July.
