Berlin The federal government considers its relief package of 65 billion euros to be massive. But what really remains when you look at the announced steps from increased child benefit to the electricity price brake? And is this result fair overall?

In fact, low earners benefit more than middle and high earners. But does that help them to cope with the ever increasing energy prices?

Estimates by the federal government for the specific relief of individual groups of people, which Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (FDP) spread via Twitter on Monday, show a divided picture. Economists fear that this could lead to major problems, especially for one group.

Third relief package: This is how lower incomes benefit

Recipients of basic security would get 752 euros more in the next year and a half as a result of the relief package. Low earners can hope for the greatest relief. A single person with an annual income of 15,600 euros would be relieved by 870 euros. Above all, the planned expansion of housing benefit would benefit this group of people.
