The beloved Shadowheart character in Baldur’s Gate 3 actually has a habit that we don’t know about. Shadowheart was originally designed as a much more insidious and cynical character. But things didn’t go quite as planned and they decided to change their ways. So what happened to the developers of the game that changed this woman’s behavior? Here are the details…
Baldur’s Gate 3 character Shadowheart was actually sneaky and sassy! They changed your personality
The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 initially designed Shadowheart as a very sneaky, spoiled and sarcastic character. Director Swen Vincke said that the purpose of this design was to create distrust among party members and enable them to overcome this distrust over time. But then, of course, things didn’t go the way they wanted.
Feedback from players during the game’s Early Access period led to changes in Shadowheart’s personality. One developer said that he really didn’t like Shadowheart’s overly sneaky and sarcastic nature and that it aroused hatred. Thereupon, they decided to make changes to the character’s personality. Vincke said that during this process, some players “This is a mistake, you should change it” He recalls that he gave very clear feedback.
Players wanted the character to become more balanced and likable through feedback. Thereupon, they embarked on a behavior change operation. As a result of the changes made to Shadowheart, Shadowheart’s sneaky and sassy features have been greatly reduced. However, curiosity about the original design of this character still continues. Vincke stated that he was a bit scared to see how Shadowheart’s early incarnation would develop, especially her relationships with Lae’zel, if she was introduced as an optional mode in the game.
This secret story of Shadowheart also showed how much they took player feedback into consideration during the development of Baldur’s Gate 3. So, what do you think about these changes?
