Germany is the land of entrepreneurs and founders. Yes, exactly. Without an asterisk, inside I or underscore. Because most companies in Germany are run by men. Although Germany’s start-up scene is open and diverse, it is actually more backward than traditional corporations when it comes to promoting women.
According to data from CB Insights, Germany has now produced 25 unicorns. Women among its founders: exactly one – Osnat Michaeli, founder and boss of Infarm. According to figures from the German Startup Monitor, the proportion of women among all new founders in 2021 was only 17.7 percent.
