Berlin Whether food, heating or petrol: the rising cost of living is increasingly becoming a problem for many employees. According to the Federal Statistical Office, consumer prices rose by around eight percent last year. The forecast for 2023 doesn’t look much better either.
It is true that employers increased wages by an average of 3.5 percent last year. Due to inflation, however, employees could afford less of it than in previous years. With some companies already shedding staff, now is not the best time to ask for more money.
