There are no longer any bans on thinking for the Greens

Ricarda Lang in Norway

Appointments at Norcem and Equinor would have given her “exciting insights”, writes Lang on Instagram

Berlin Ricarda Lang shows up on Instagram with a red safety helmet and yellow warning vest from the Norwegian Equinor group. The co-leader of the Greens spent two days getting an idea of the CO2 storage project, more precisely the capture and storage of carbon dioxide (Carbon Capture and Storage, or CCS for short). Equinor plays a key role in this.

The German company Heidelberg Cement is also involved: its Norwegian subsidiary Norcem is one of the pioneers of CO2 storage. From 2024, Norcem wants to permanently store 400,000 tons of CO2 per year deep under the seabed off the Norwegian coast. That would then correspond to half of the carbon dioxide that is produced in the cement factory every year.

And Ricarda Lang finds it all extremely interesting. The appointments at Norcem and Equinor gave her “exciting insights”, writes Lang on Instagram.

At the same time, there are “still question marks” with regard to the technology, opportunities and risks have to be weighed against each other, the Greens co-head continues.
