“The worst is behind us”

London Despite the Omicron wave, the British low-cost airline Easyjet expects business to return to pre-Corona levels this summer. “There is nothing to indicate that this will not happen,” CEO Johan Lundgren said in an interview with Handelsblatt and Les Echos. Most recently, bookings picked up again after travel restrictions were relaxed. “This shows that there is no fundamental lack of demand,” said Lundgren.

The Swede is confident that flying will soon be possible again without restrictions. “We can definitely say: the worst is behind us,” said Lundgren. He predicts a travel boom in the summer, when many Europeans will take their first vacation abroad since the pandemic began.

The manager also expects demand to increase for business trips: “People have had enough of zoom meetings and want to get out again.” However, the recovery in this area will take another two to four years.
