Recent research shows positive changes in employees’ attitudes towards using artificial intelligence tools at work. A seven-week study by Avanade was conducted on 700 employees, and the study highlighted the significant impacts of Microsoft 365 Copilot on employee experiences.

Research results showed that employees became more creative, sharing and problem-solving after using artificial intelligence tools. Significant improvements were noted in six people metrics such as workplace communication, creativity, trust, job satisfaction, sense of belonging, and organizational citizenship behavior.
45% of employees said they felt less shy about communication when supported by Copilot. This shows how effective artificial intelligence can be as a communication tool.
Overall creativity and innovation scores increased by two points compared to the same study last year. The rate of adoption of new working methods increased by nine points.
While the vast majority of employees (88%) found Microsoft’s AI aligned with their company values, only 65% saw it as aligned with their personal values. This suggests that AI is a valuable tool in the workplace, but it does not fully align with personal values.
The research also showed how AI is breaking down stagnation in the workplace. 85% of employees said they gained a sense of accomplishment from their work, and 80% said they remained committed to their roles.

However, while 92% of IT executives think there should be a shift to an AI-focused operating model within the next 12 months, only 48% have specific policies for responsible AI. Avanade emphasizes that upskilling employees and implementing ethical frameworks is critical to maximizing the benefits of AI.
“Ultimately, Copilot for M365 is not a ‘flip the switch’ technology, but it has the potential to improve communication and creativity when implemented,” commented Veit Siegenheim, Avanade Global Future of Work Leader.
