Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf The building contractor Christoph Gröner made no secret of his Scoop. In May 2020, his Gröner Group GmbH took over 17 properties from the project developer Consus Real Estate AG (Consus), from which he had left as a shareholder shortly before. The procedure was “neither disreputable nor intransparent in the matter,” Gröner told the Handelsblatt.

But precisely when it comes to the details of this € 339 million deal, buyers and sellers contradict each other. This is tricky because Consus is a subsidiary of the Luxemburg-based Adler Group. The real estate group is currently the focus of the shortseller Fraser Perring. The Brit accuses him of fraud, manipulation and deception of his financiers, which Adler denies.
