Entering Bitcoin.org, it appears that there is a fake Bitcoin scam on the site, indicating that the scammers are trying to get people’s funds by taking over the oldest Bitcoin site. Looking at the wallet address shared by the fraudsters, it is seen that the amount of funds collected is close to 18,000 dollars.
The method is quite ordinary. In this method, known as giveaway fraud, it is promised that the more money the victims send, the double of it will be sent, but of course, this money never comes.
The website run by the anonymous developer Cobra has been subjected to many DDOS attacks before, but it is not known who made such an attack on this site. Bitcoin.org had to remove the Bitcoin whitepaper last July due to a copyright lawsuit. Claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto, Craig Wright got the right to have the whitepaper removed without actually winning the lawsuit he filed. The reason for this was that the court demanded that Cobra reveal his identity in order to participate in the case, and Cobra did not accept this and lost the case directly.
Bitcoin.org does not show the relevant advertisement as of now, but the site is not accessible from time to time. Although it is thought that the site may have been taken back, this situation actually reveals a great danger. Money should never be sent to structures similar to giveaway scams, even on the most reliable websites or platforms.
In the past, thousands of people were victimized and their assets were stolen with tweets promising high profits by imitating Elon Musk or other people’s profiles or by directly hijacking these accounts.
