Experienced director Michael Mann has rolled up his sleeves for his next project after the blockbuster Ferrari movie. The countdown has begun for the sequel to the unforgettable crime movie Heat, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, which was released in 1995. New details about the highly anticipated Heat 2 movie have been shared from the director’s mouth.
What to expect from Heat 2?
Speaking at a special screening of Miami Vice recently, Michael Mann shared the latest details about Heat 2, which is scheduled to begin filming later this year or early 2025.
The director shared some secondary information with enthusiasts, such as the length of the script and therefore the current runtime of the sequel: “I’m working on the script seven days a week. It’s going to be at least as long as the original Heat, which was 2 hours and 50 minutes long. We’re going to shoot in Paraguay, Mexicali, Chicago, Los Angeles and then Southeast Asia.”
According to the first details to emerge, famous actor Adam Driver will take on the role of Neil MacCauley (originally played by Robert De Niro in the 1995 cult classic) in the movie Heat 2. Other actors rumored to join the cast include Austin Butler and Ana de Armas.
Heat 2 will be an adaptation of Mann’s self-published novel, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller in August 2022. The highly anticipated film will take place before and after the original, and will use flashbacks, just like in The Godfather – Part Two. These flashbacks are said to take place mostly with the characters of Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) and Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer).
