As a result of the US sanctions against Russia, the Russian military is apparently forced to use computer chips from old kitchen appliances for their tanks. The Washington Post reported this, referring to a statement by US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

At her last meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal it was reported that the Ukrainian military had discovered relevant parts when searching Russian tanks. Among other things, chips from dishwashers and refrigerators were found, said Raimondo.

According to the US Department of Commerce, US technical exports to Russia have fallen by 70 percent since the beginning of the war of aggression against Ukraine ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The value of total exports from the United States fell by 97 percent.

In her speech, Raimondo also reported on two Russian tank production companies that had to shut down completely for the time being due to a lack of material.
