Genoa Giorgia Meloni is visibly moved when she appears in front of her supporters early Monday morning: “This is a night of pride, of redemption, of tears, of hugs, of dreams, of memories,” says the leader of the Fratelli d’Italia (FDI ). In the parliamentary elections on Sunday, her right-wing alliance won a clear majority in both chambers of parliament. “If we are called to rule this nation, we will do it for everyone,” for all Italians. She wants to reunite the country, which has been split into two camps in the last few weeks of the election campaign.
