Dusseldorf, Berlin The number of start-ups founded in Germany is declining significantly. Between July and September 2022, almost 30 percent fewer new companies with an innovative and technology-focused business model were entered in the commercial register than in the same period last year. This emerges from an analysis by venture capitalist Morphais.
This strengthens a downward trend that has been observed since the beginning of the year. In the first quarter the decline was more than twelve percent, in the second more than 15 percent. Now the decline has doubled again.
In absolute figures, this means: In the first quarter of 2021, 834 start-ups were founded, in the same period of this year only 733. Now for the period from July to September there are only 578 start-ups compared to the 820 foundings from the previous year. Morphais evaluated data from the Startupdetector information service for the analysis.
