Russia suspended relations after Volodymyr Zelensky, known as pro-US, became President of Ukraine and wanted to join NATO. The escalating tension first went to the gunfight, then to the artillery around the border and the occupation that lasted for the last 4 months.
During this war, Europe and the USA provided Ukraine with a large amount of weapons, ammunition and logistical support. However, just before the war, some agreements were signed with Turkey in the field of defense industry and the foundations were laid. As a matter of fact, this situation continued after the war.
Baykar presents Bayraktar TB2 to Ukraine!
The people of Ukraine started a campaign to purchase 3 Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs. Baykar, who learned this, gave the SİHAs as a gift.
It was known that Ukraine bought 12 Bayraktar TB2s from Turkey before the war and ordered 24 more. In fact, not content with this, it was decided to open a factory in Ukraine with the partnership of Baykar and make production there as well.
However, the latest statement made by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov revealed some confidential information. According to Reznikov, the number of Bayraktar TB2 purchased by Ukraine has reached 50. It is unknown whether 1+3 TB2s given as gifts are included in this. However, it has been confirmed that Baykar has allocated most of its production line to Ukraine since February.
We know that TB2s are sold for a price of around 5 million Euros / 6 million dollars. In this case, we can say that Ukraine only paid 250+ million Euros for SİHAs. Considering the ground control stations and the exchange rate at that time, an amount over 4.5 billion TL emerges.
