Dusseldorf The headlines read like déjà vu: The severe Covid outbreaks in China are leading to new regulations at airports in Italy, the USA and a number of other countries. The European Union is still deliberating. But politicians around the world are now well aware of the impact a new wave of the pandemic would have on their economies.

Investors, too, must therefore consider what this new starting point means for their portfolios and their strategy for the new year. On Thursday, the situation was surprisingly relaxed.
