The most important tax changes in 2022: Where taxpayers benefit

Frankfurt In the corona pandemic, the state is spending the money with full hands. Economic aid alone is the most extensive in the history of the Federal Republic. The bill could one day be passed on to taxpayers, but so far the new FDP finance minister Christian Lindner has pushed all worries aside: “I’m not a fan of tax increases,” he announced when he took office in mid-December.

In the coalition agreement, increasing taxes are not explicitly excluded, but nothing has actually been announced at the moment – also because a tax law for 2022 is currently missing.

That is typical of election years. Because the old government ended the legislative process before the summer break and the new government did not take up office until late in the year after the coalition negotiations, there is no time to pass an annual tax law.
