Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin broke his silence regarding the access bans imposed on Instagram and Roblox in a statement he made via his official X (Twitter) account. The Minister of National Education claimed that as a ministry, they were taking precautions to protect against the dangers that could be encountered in the digital world and that this was the reason for the ban.
Minister of National Education spoke for the first time about Roblox and Instagram bans
As you know, at the beginning of this month, access to Instagram was first banned, and after negotiations did not yield results, it was announced that the ban on Instagram would continue. After a few days, the online game Roblox, which is very popular especially among the young segment, was also banned, and these access bans became the number one agenda item in the country.

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin noted the following via his official social media account:
“In today’s digital age, the safety and healthy development of our children is more important than ever. In addition to our schools, teachers and educational environments, social media platforms are also particularly effective in the development of our children.
As the Ministry, we take various measures to protect our children from the dangers they may encounter in the digital world and to prevent digital addiction.“
Minister Tekin continued his words as follows:
In recent years, social media platforms and online games have taken up a large portion of our children’s time. These platforms can host content that can negatively affect the social, academic and psychological development of our students. Especially popular platforms such as Instagram and Roblox can cause our children to become digitally addicted and encounter uncontrolled content that we can call digital fascism.
There is no doubt that it is essential for digital media platforms to respect universal law, domestic law and our responsibilities for the future.
Let us not forget that it is our common responsibility to protect our children from the digital fascism of social media tools. We must all say stop to digital fascism together.”
