Berlin Several members of the gas expert commission convened by the federal government appealed to the federal government in the Handelsblatt. Your concern: you want to change the mind of Olaf Scholz (SPD). The Chancellor recently said that he wanted to prevent companies from reselling subsidized gas if they took advantage of the gas price brake.

Veronika Grimm, the chairwoman of the commission, says: “The federal government is taking an unnecessarily large risk if it deviates from the recommendation.”

And Lion Hirth from the Berlin Hertie School says: “Heat up gas consumption through government intervention – that’s the last thing we should do in the current situation.” Because a ban on resale would force companies to use the gas if the commission members argue that they want to use the aid. Industry representatives also see it that way.
