Frankfurt The federal government has ended its stake in Lufthansa. The Federal Finance Agency announced on Tuesday in Frankfurt that the Economic Stabilization Fund (WSF) had completely sold its last remaining stake of almost ten percent to international investors as part of a block placement.

“The company is back in private hands,” said Jutta Dönges, who is responsible for the WSF as managing director of the finance agency. The stabilization has been successfully completed. At EUR 1.07 billion, the total proceeds significantly exceeded the EUR 306 million used to acquire the stake. This ends the participation of the WSF.

In 2020, the aviation sector was one of the sectors hardest hit economically by the corona pandemic. The federal government supported Lufthansa in June 2020 with stabilization measures of up to 6 billion euros. Lufthansa was able to fully repay the silent participations by November 2021.
