Berlin The federal government is launching a €200 billion aid fund to relieve citizens and businesses of the increased energy costs. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) presented their concept “Economic Defense Shield” on Thursday afternoon
against the consequences of the Russian war of aggression”.

“The prices have to go down,” said Scholz.

The new program to reduce gas and electricity prices has a total volume of up to 200 billion euros. This emerges from the program “Economic defense against the consequences of the Russian war of aggression” presented in Berlin on Thursday. The Handelsblatt had already reported on the plans in the morning.
