The new domestic turbo jet engine, developed in record time by Kale Arge, one of Turkey’s leading defense industry companies, will be used in anti-ship and cruise missiles in the coming period. Accordingly, we saw the KTJ-3200 to be used in Atmaca and SOM, and the record-breaking performance of the KTJ-1750 to be used in Çakır. Here are the details…
Domestic turbo jet engine KTJ-1750 was completed in 1.5 years! Delivered to Roketsan this week
Cruise missiles are a dynamically structured and jet-powered guided missile system that can glide through the air like a bird with the help of the wings around it. Depending on the production technology and the platform to be used, they can carry a conventional explosive load or a ballistic/nuclear warhead.
In our country, the most known in this field is SOM and Çakır (to be included in the inventory after mass production) and the new member of the family. Such systems are one step ahead of their competitors, especially thanks to the smart brain (artificial intelligence supported processor) they use.
For example, after firing the F-16 or F-35 (carried inside the fuselage) cruise missile, this device has a range of 200+ kilometers. Then, like a kamikaze, it scans the terrain and creates a suitable route. In this way, it moves towards its target as much as possible without being caught by radars and invisible to air defense systems.
Of course, SOM and ÇAKIR will be used as platforms that are quite different from each other. Because the SOM series is designed to be fired from jet aircraft. It can even be used in MMUs in the coming years by being carried inside the body.
Çakır, on the other hand, does the same job at the end of the day, even though it has a relatively less range. Moreover, unlike SOM, it can be used on SİTA-TİHA platforms such as Kızılelma, Aksungur and Akıncı, and on sea platforms such as SİDA. The first shooting test with Akıncı will take place in February.
