Riga, Dusseldorf Almost twelve months have passed since Russia launched a large-scale war of aggression against Ukraine. Since then, experts have been trying to quantify the costs of the war and its consequences for Ukraine and the rest of the world – starting with the thousands killed, the people fleeing and the families threatened by starvation.
The situation of many people in Ukraine is still catastrophic, as civilian targets and infrastructure are being relentlessly shelled, said UN emergency aid coordinator Martin Griffiths recently. In addition, the Ukrainian economy has been hit hard.
