The Altay tank is ready for mass production: South Korea delivered the engines!

The Altay tank project, whose foundations were laid as the National Tank Production Project (MITUP) to meet Turkey’s tank needs, was given to Otokar Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. by the Presidency of Defense Industries in 2007.

For the Altay tank, which currently has more than 10 prototypes, the transition dates to mass production for the past 10 years have been shared. However, the project could not take the next step because the desired engine could not be supplied, and it began to be known as the snake story among the people. But this time the expected step was taken.

Bayraktar Akıncı broke the high altitude record once again!

Selçuk Bayraktar, in his social media account, said that Bayraktar Akıncı B TİHA ruled out its own record.

South Korea delivered power units and engines

The expectations on the main battle tank Altay, which was developed as a 3+ generation, are quite high. Because, as we can see from the videos shared over the years, when these vehicles, which bring many new technologies with them, are delivered to our army, they will look like antiques next to the other tanks in the inventory (the ones that have not gone through the modernization process).

Moreover, in addition to the planned production of 1000 units with T1 and T2 configurations, an unmanned and turreted version called T3 will be developed for the Altay tank. Of course, there is no information about the engine of this unmanned configuration yet.

However, it is said that an alternative to the engine and power units purchased from South Korea for Altay is under construction in our country. Therefore, we can see that all the configurations we encounter in the future come with the domestic engine.
