How will the 5 TL coin be?
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, 5 TL coins became real. In this context, the diameter of the coin will be 28.15 mm, its thickness will be 1.70 mm and its weight will be 8.25 grams.
The design of the front and back of the coin was also detailed. The eight-pointed Seljuk star motif and the repetition of this motif will be used on the outer ring on the front. There will be a crescent and star at the junction of the ring and the hub. There will be the “Türkiye Century” logo in the middle.
There will also be the number 5 on the front and the text “TURKISH LIRA” underneath. The year of minting of the coin will also be located at the bottom of the obverse. On the back of the coin, there will be a relief of Atatürk and the words “REPUBLIC OF Türkiye” on the outer ring.
In the statement published in the Official Gazette on the subject, it was stated that coins worth 5 TL were printed by the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing House affiliated with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. It was also stated that it will be put into circulation with the decision.
On the other hand, a while ago, CBRT President Fatih Karahan spoke about the new banknotes. Karahan confirmed the rumors by saying, “Our teams are working on whether 500 and 1000 TL banknotes are needed.”
